Aravilla Sarasota Sea Life Adventures

Aravilla Sarasota memory care outing to Mote Marine

June was a month marked by exciting experiences for our memory care residents. Our excursions took us to diverse locations around town in Sarasota. We packed a picnic lunch and boarded our bus to City Island. There, we explored the renown Mote Marine Aquarium. Most of us had not visited before. We were excited to discover their touch aquarium. We touched rays and spikey sea urchins in their touch pool. One can also get an up-close view of sharks of all kinds in their spacious shark tank. We took a photo by the Megalodon shark jaw replica before leaving. We saw turtles, Cynthia & Betty enjoy all the fish tanks otters, an alligator, and more. Our trip ended with a delightful picnic lunch by the water. All the residents hope to visit Mote Marine’s new location once it’s open.

Feeding the Ducks & Birds

memory care residents feeding the ducks

The extreme heat in Florida feels well over 100 degrees. This heat keeps our senior residents indoors most of the day. We do make an exception each morning to feed the ducks at the gazebo. After breakfast, we grab our bird food and take a short walk in the fresh air to feed our feathery friends. This walk also prepares us for our exercise class. We hope you can join us on our morning routine.

Aloha Friends!

To commemorate the start of summer, we organized a wonderful Hawaiian Luau here at Aravilla Sarasota. The event showcased a range of Don Ho’s popular songs, accompanied by tropical flowers and a Tiki bar. Upon arrival, our senior residents received a warm Aloha greeting and were presented with vibrant leis. Our staff set up an attractive photo backdrop, replete with props, where residents took memorable photographs. The available props included coconut bras, grass skirts, hats, and more. Diana prepared delicious pineapple upside-down cupcakes, a quintessential Hawaiian treat. They were truly wonderful.

Father’s Day Weekend

Father’s Day Weekend was great! Our neighbors at Aravilla Assisted Living invited us over for a Classic Car show. The weather prepared a sunny morning for a great event. The classic cars showed up early and parked in the roundabout of our parking lot. The residents showed up early to get good seats and see all of the cars. One of our favorites was a 1953 Hudson Hornet. It was a true beauty. They guys enjoyed conversations with the car owners and taking pictures with the awesome cars they own. Later we went on to have a good time while enjoying “Donuts with Dad”. We hope everyone had a great Father’s Day like we did.
