It’s a Jungle Out Here!
Aravilla welcomed Sarasota Jungle Gardens for an engaging visit with their animals. Our senior residents learned about various wildlife species and had hands-on experience with a hairy tarantula, slithery snake, baby alligator, and a spikey hedgehog. The Jungle Gardens staff brought the animals to our location, allowing residents to see, hold, and photograph with them. With their expertise, the staff addressed numerous questions from our residents. They shared interesting facts about the animals. This enjoyable event highlighted the residents’ enthusiasm and bravery in interacting with the creatures. We hope to see them again soon.

Butterflies Everywhere
Over the past couple of weeks our memory care residents have experienced being a part of a butterfly metamorphosis. Watching the transformation from caterpillars to butterflies was one of the most magical and unfor gettable experiences we have had. Our friend Lisa, gifted us our own butterfly growing kits. These kits come with live caterpillars, food and the container to keep them in. We had a total of 20 caterpillars that we observed eating and growing into their next stage of life. It was fascinating to see how quickly they out grew their cocoon and emerged as beautiful butterflies. At this point, we knew the next stage would be bitter sweet for us. We had cared for them and it was now time to release them. Our residents gathered in the garden to release them in to world. As they, flew off into the sky our residents felt proud of their accomplishment. This project helped us grow just as the caterpillars did.
Family Support Group
Hello Aravilla friends and family. We would like to invite all of you to our monthly support group. It will be held Wednesday, August 20th from 4:30 to 6:00pm. Our Resident Engagement Director, Diana Jimenez, will be our special guest. Her presentation will be on “Therapeutical Fibbing” and communication techniques. Diana is a senior staff member at Aravilla Sarasota. She has been with us for 10 years and has over 15 years of Dementia Care experience. We have limited seating so please register at the Concierge Desk or call 941.444.9398 to reserve your spot. Light refreshments will be served. You don’t want to miss this opportunity.
